Hey dudes & dolls! Missing you all a lot and can't find much to be interested in with Vanguard. Pretty much it's been dead for me like most ever since that horrid expansion. I have been looking for a kick ass MMORPG to play that isn't from soe for the future and if anyone has a suggestion I'm open to anything really.

So much has changed for me since I last played vanguard and hung out with everyone that I have no idea where to start. Sorry I haven't dropped by and said howdy more often, but life has been pretty busy for me lately.

I am supposed to get my second surgery for my neck to replace 3 discs with those prosthetic suckers in my mid back. They fixed the compression fracture that healed wrong and removed some bone spurs around that area from the first one. The family and I have been talking a lot about future plans and all... the latest ideer is to start a buffalo ranch in montana and make a serious life changing move.

We moved to Big Bear Lake August this year and it's been so amazingly great up here I could go on for hours about how awesome this place is... but alas, it's still california and I hate california ;)

Sooo... maybe in 2 years we'll move to Montana and open up a hunting lodge after I build a kick ass log cabin to live in and buy up a few thousand acres of land to ranch buffalo on. My buddy I've known since high school who got me my first fire department job the year after has been a fire captain in Arizona since the last 15 years and is even talking about joining in business with me and retiring from being a firefighter and ranching with me to hunt elk, raise buffalo, fishing trips, skiing trips and all around manage a kick ass lodge in Montana.

Right now it's a plan, so in 2 years, we'll see what's up. I'm just now starting school again at age 37 to start all over and get my Associates of science in allied health, and progress onto PA school once I finish that for montana license. At least I can use the brain pan since my body is broken and abused. Can't be a rough neck anymore so I figured I'd love to be a buffalo rancher slash PA.

Stay in touch folks!

Miss you all like mad, and I would really love to get into another MMORPG again, but I have to find one that just really takes the cake if you know what I mean. Feel like I wasted 2 years of my life with such a pile of shit game that vanguard was... always waiting for the potential and never seen it deliver. I learned my lesson with soe and will pretty much never play anything from them again.

I don't know of any buzz or news about upcoming games that are coming out soon or even in development right now, but keep me informed.

Right now we are balls deep in Aion but no raid content presently. WoW chapter is in a lull until new content is released. EQ2 chapter splintered off and the Warhammer chapter took a plunge into the lake with self laced concrete boots. A bit of excitement from several people about the upcoming release of Star Trek Online which appears to be primarily for Trekkies and the latest Star Wars which seems to be a casual game. So for now we wait for FFIX / EQ3 (a lot of the guys are excited because SOE is rumored to be in talks with Brad McQuaid apparently the cost of each meeting is a magnum of Cristal and enough heroin and hookers to last the weekend).. So right now in order to play with the guys that you are looking for would be play WoW horde on the Dark Iron server or Asmodians on the Aion server Vaizel.

hey good to hear from you!

buffalo ranching sounds fun...i buy buffalo meat at the store every now and then...its pricey...the big thing though is that there are very few "Pure Bred" buffalo...if any...most of the herds, even the "wild herds" at yellowstone are genetically mixed....its too bad. most of the buffalo meat you see in the stores or restaurants are buffalo/cow. if you did indeed find some pure bred buffalo you could make a killing literally!

I love Kontra's style :D

...always knows just the right amount of facetious sarcasm to insert.

stay cool brudda. It's been righteously wicked knowing ya. If you and Val are still together, give her my regards.

Gotta say that EQ3 is something that actually might intrigue me since EQ1 was my original heroine for 10 years from beta 2 till I quit to play eq2 on launch. Ever since original EQ, it seems nothing has ever compared to the general nostalgia of EQ gaming days for me.

One of the games I've watched for several years in development and was anticipating was trials of ascention with dragons as playable race. But like all things that sound to good to be true it ran out of funding and never saw it finished. Something I'm sure will one day arise for hard core middle aged EQ type genre RPGers.

yeah, we've been doing our research and it appears buffalo ranching is not only easier then raising cattle, but cheaper as well. Cattle costs around $300 to raise and buffalo costs 2/3 that. Most cattle ranchers make about $50 profit on a head, and selling cattle at $350-$500 is what most the ranchers in the cattle business will claim. Buffalo breeding stock hefers and even meat bulls can sell for $1400-$5000 depending on many variables. But basically after talking to a buffalo rancher from Colorado, he's told me the past 10 years raising buffalo after almost going broke raising cattle, ...it doesn't take a genius to figure out you'd need to sell around 20-25 cattle head to make the same profit from one buffalo.

The meat sells for approximately $6.00 on the rail I guess, and it's better for you. This ranch has many affiliates raising buffalo and providing the supplies for their marketing of the meat if I wanted to join forces. Couple of chats with the "Buffalo Guys" ranch in Colorado and they have specific standards if you wish to be a supplier. It'll cost a pretty penny buying your herd basically. Gotta start with no less then 10 since they are herd animals, and he suggested to me no less then 30 to start for them to be happy.

No artificial breeding or forced grain feeding lots etc. Let nature take it's course. Buffalo are pretty hardy, and the calves can even withstand neg 50 while cattle calves would freeze and die at 32 degrees. They need plenty of room to roam and suggested 15 acres per every calf / heffer pair. To begin they suggested 160 acres minimum and my buddy and I figured we'll be considering at least 1k to 3k acres with a 100 head herd to start with.

The buffalo are not hybrids or any of those odd duck types that are considered bad genes. These are the american bison 100% and you pretty much will be paying for it too. Breeding stock in this industry apparently as I'm finding out is a highly coveted asset. The few buffalo ranchers that are supplying the meat and breeding stocks are doing so by maintaining their own instead of buying these days. It's gaining more popularity so the breeding stock demands are rising fast I guess. If I do this right, I'll end up with a full time Lodge / ranch resort and ranching Buffalo, Elk meat / stock and providing bed and breakfast type lodging for events. Fly fishing, skiing, guide hunting next to national forest areas. My buddy even wants to take up taxidermy I guess to while we're at it... and we discussed the fact that maybe even developing airstrip for the small private planes and jets to fly in easily.

Lotta dreams in a nut shell. Lotta work to make it happen. I'll be considering it all while I contemplate going to school. Workers comp has the whole vocational rehab thing since I can't do what I used to anymore, and it pays for that, so I have to consider PA school being the safety net and doing possible med school as a backup plan.

I'll keep in touch!

I miss gaming with you all.

Sounds like a pretty good dream, I hope it all works out for ya nacho. Sounds like a lot of hard work but as with anything, hard work pays off in the end. It will be nice and peacefull out there I am sure. Lots of room for your 600 children to grow and play. When you get the lodge up and running let me know, maybe Caity and I can come out for a weekend and kick it for a few days.

I am sure I'lll try out eq3, (if it is really made). The nastalgia of everquest alone will be enough for me to give it a go. As always though I'll need to see a working project before I actually believe it will exist. I am on the fence about anything that Brad McPwned stamps his name on. Hopefully SOE keeps him on a short leash.

I havent been playing to much lately. Ive been into Demon's Souls on the ps3 and just downloaded dragon age recently. So I have been into those two games. I'll get into the new Kotor mmo when it comes out, but I am still on the fence about it.

Been working hard at school, spending all my free time working on perfecting my coding algorythms. School is going well so far, I am doing well in it. Physics2 is a biotch, wish I had pharcyde to tutor me in it. Next semester I will be taking discrete structures and from what I hear it will be the hardest class I take in my degree.

I am in CS1 atm and this kid sitting in front of me has a mullet with the rat tail. Its hillarious. Even funnier is he has the super tyte jean's that were cut up to become shorts, and to complete the trifecta he has a 70's tom seleck magnum pi mustache. I wouldnt be suprised if this kid had a pop up camper somewhere out in the woods nextdoor to the campus.

That is hilarious.

Glad everything's going great for you nacht, sounds like an awesome plan. i went back to vanguard after HA left, and it was less than satisfying, i had alot of fun but unless you raid there's no fun to be had, a road of grinding lies ahead. The better decision is to wait for swtor/and or/ ffxiv. I've been playing borderlands for PC which is a great game with the exception of gamespy. Other than that school and work. And hoping for some future HA eq3/swtor/ffxiv, anything new.

I think I cracked a rib laughing so hard. Seriously bro... a little pee came out that time. You really know how to make me laugh Kontra!

I can picture that kid in front of you in my mind's eye almost. Sounds like the cliche 80s douchebag playing the air guitar with the only thing missing being his windbreaker and camaro with the license plate "SOCOOL" You've gotta snap a cell phone pic and post it here so we can all flame on him. roflmao.

All good things in due time brother man. If I ever make this dream happen and my buddy the ricky rescue fire captain decides to go for broke, we might just pull it off. I'll absolutely keep in touch so you can plan many trips to montana bro.

I have a lot of my own schooling to begin working on myself. Kind of intimidating to be facing a totally new career change at 37 and start thinking "Holy shit! NOW what am I gonna do?!!"

I'm staying optimistic, but the pain just gets worse all the time. One day I'll get the bionic spine gig completed and hopefully be pain free as they seem to guarantee me. Going back to college and starting from ground zero should be fairly interesting. I will have to see what I can get funded for. I mean hell man... if there's grants and loans for rough neck assholes to do med school, I'll consider the possibility of that instead of the cheap and fast PA school. I even met a girl from Florida in med school right now that promises to hire me as her PA, and had already planned on moving to Oregon / Montana.

She's one of the few that I've tutored in Internet marketing for the past 6 months and been chatting about with this plan every now and again. I've got the brain for it, but lack the money... so if the funding was possible, I would definitely goto med school. On the flip side, I would ironically be as my wife pointed out, "half way onto becoming the cliche Gregory House," with my vicodin habit and flame graphic cane.

I'd have to come up with a good reason to wear those hideous nike shoes though. On second thought, Maybe I'll pass. ;)
