I have read some posts regarding the combo system, and heard some devs speak very highly of this 'easy' way to do combos.

Unfortunately I think it's assinine.

Normal movement keys are mapped to WASD. Adding 5 other keys for one hand is simply retarded. A scenario where I want to move back and right while hitting a 3 button combo are nearly impossible. This totally defeats the purpose of being able to "move" while "swinging".

I envision myself hooking up my 5 button mouse with some of the combo moves. Assuming that by holding down right click and using the movement buttons i'll be able to control my viewing plane with the mouse while I move, I can envision mousewheel being a really easy way to maybe cycle through combos. A cool technique i first saw in FPS with mouse wheel was to use it as a 1 round fire. So that even with an uzi or spray weapon you could still get off one shot. For AoC i'm thinking of mapping a combo starter to the mousewheel and 2nd/3rd attacks to the site buttons.

This way I can have full movement + combat moves integrated into a hyperactive, 2handed, multi-finger gesture instead of trying to hold down several of 9 buttons at once with only 4 finges.

Thoughts?

There is like a second delay between swings, if you are fast enough with your fingers you should be fine.

I am of the belief that you can get used to almost any control system, I know I've used some REAL fucked ones before, after awhile you just do it. Besides, I'll macro everything into one button I can just pound.

I think they said there might be a problem macroing combos since your opponent can dodge and fuck you up while your continuing your combo.

It'll be weird at first but I'm sure there is a buffer or cool down between chains so that way people don't get flustered.

I've always found new control schemes frustrating at first, but after about an hour I completely forget the control scheme for whatever I *was* playing before it.

Then I go back to the last game and wonder how I ever played with its control scheme to begin with... and the process repeats itself.

About the only one that took me more than an hour to really get into ever was Final Fantasy XI... and Dark Age of Camelot to a lesser extent. FFXI just had a damned horrible interface (but not surprising I guess, as it was a port from PS2).
