This will be the grand finale, the last game in the series. Snake's story will come to a close, and it will be the last one that Hideo Kajima participates in. The end of an era.
The game's 20th anniversary is later this month.
This is not the first time Hideo-san has announced his departure from the series - he said the same thing after making Metal Gear Solid 3. But this announcement ends rampant speculation that MGS4 would become an Xbox 360 title. It also signals a delay in the game's release until 2008.
