Just posted this. Nothing amazing, but I thought it was kinda funny. WTB Muggi back!

Group of Halcyon Affinity members in Vanguard: Saga Of Heroes beta wiping. We were levitating down with a Bard's song, but the game bugged out and we all took falling damage except for myself. I somehow got teleported to the top of the tower, along with Abigor's corpse. My FRAPS was screwed so as I was trying to talk to my guild mates in ventrilo they couldn't hear me, only my music.

That damn Muggi Slugfingers and his bard song. We all had some good times in Vanguard, bugginess aside. Wasn't that at the cyclops tower? I blame Faelor's OP Windsong for our deaths.

Then you all got to hear about me concerned about my corpse because it was such a PITA to retrieve them/tombstones. When death was more than a slight inconvienience or a means of travel.

You teleporting to the top wasn't a bug, if a player has a certain item in their inventory they take a leap of faith off a ledge and get teleported up to the named before hitting the ground.

Yeah, that was the Cyclops Tower. We were suppose to jump off and teleport to the top but it seems only I teleported. Well, I only with your corpse. As we fell down I knew I had to start recording, haha.

Death meaning time-sink scares me now. I'll pay my gold and be happy.

Ah, well Faelor wasn't bugged because he role-plays and does quests!

Abigor's corpse somehow go up there though!

I remember soloing that guy up there (who wasn't implemented when I was up there, go go beta) on my cleric and people going crazy on Silky Venom about it. Good times! Epic 26 minute fight.

I cant remember the name of the cyclops island that this tower was in the center of, but it was surrounded by all of these patrolling cyclops that would chain proximity pull each other. As a 5 man group, it was pretty intensive not to wipe if you got too many.

Meanwhile, there were these floating orb mobs around the base of the tower that you had to kill to get random drop reagents from, in order to acess the peak of the tower, where this named cyclops was.

Going up the tower itself had tons of mobs in the base where you entered, then groups of difficult Lizardmen or something going up all of the stairs. Then I believe there were simliar floating orbs that all had different abilities which would annihlate your group if you got an add while you were engaged with others. After a couple of floors of this, was the entryway to the ledge where we died. (Thanks bard song levitate!) Every group member activated their inventory item as Qonk said, and was teleported up to the Boss. If you used your item and failed. It was back to farming one for each person, random drop style!

The named cyclops was the final kill for a quest (of course), to get this pretty damn good helm (no graphics) for your character. He was a bastard! I know he had some crazy AOE that if you werent positioned properly, it meant instant death.

If I remember correctly, Muggi had a brilliant strat involving one of his bard song's that could group levitate, so we didnt have to re-farm items. Once we got to the platform and he activated it, there was some bug with the game mechanics that turned off his bard song when you entered the "leap of faith" area. We all fell to our deaths, minus Faelor who in his disgustingly overpowered class (VG CEO played Ranger in EQ1), haxxed his way to escape.

From what you can hear in vent, was me so worried about my corpse because I remember I had "YOU HAVE DIED" on my screen and where my body should have been was pixels and brick walls, meaning I died inside the landscape. (there was no spirit healer to rez at).

All of this meant, was a couple of hours exhausted, plus a couple more hours trying to re-do it. But in the end it felt like a huge accomplishment and was tragically fun.

...And they lived happily ever after.


P.S. Dantorg will tell you that grinding XP from these cyclops sucks.

Windfurylol has nothing over Vanguard Beta 3 Windsonglol. Blade of Summer, Blade of Winter, Windsong. Wait about 6 seconds to regen endurance, usually casted a heal, DoT or snare that costed energy in this time. Rinse and repeat.

Well said Abigor, well said. That island was a bitch and I remember wiping countless times on just trying to execute the perfect pull to get to the tower. When I say perfect pull, I mean executing about 5 perfect pulls just to get to the steps where we would soon be encountering those damn storm clouds that would rape any party.

Sadly not even a year later my Cleric ran through that area while level appropriate and used his divine powers to cleanse the area of all evils. Replenishing Strikelol.

Well Faelor, you have just described every single raid encounter in Vanguard today--the words "execute the perfect pull" and "a bitch" and "rape any party" --yes, that describes VG raiding.

We are still playing in open beta btw...
