Okay, I'm going to have my desktop fixed within a week more than likely for raiding. But during my normal week, I spend allot of time at work and on campus. I'm wanting to get a really good gaming laptop for those times so I can be farming, grinding money, tradeskilling, questing, or whatever instead of just waiting to get back home where all I really have time to do is get ready for the raid that night.

Does anyone know of a good place to buy a laptop for this type of thing?

I know Alienware is where most of you will point me, and that's honestly where i'll probably end up going. But I've always thought they were way overpriced for the hardware they sell, and I was just wanting to look at some alternatives.

I'm looking for one that will last me for the rest of the time im in college (2 years), and be able to play WoW at max settings. (I know that's not TOO demanding, but I dont mind overkilling that a little bit.)

Any input?

I looked at Alienware when I bought my laptop about a year ago (right before Dell bought Alienware), and decided to go with a Dell XPS series instead. Still a LITTLE overpriced, but not as bad and still a kickass machine. I have the 17" m170.

I don't know if it could run WoW at max settings, but it could run Vanguard at mid-settings so..many desktops couldn't handle that pile of hardware-eating dogshit at lowest settings. It's never given me any issues and is all silvery-cool looking to boot.

Be prepared though, if you're looking for a real gaming rig it's more portable computer, less "laptop". My XPS weighs a ton and is 2+ inches thick.

What are you looking to spend? If the sky is the limit then buy an alienware. If you are on a budget then you may have to look for another more affordable brand.

A good gaming laptop will probably run a minimum of $1500 up to $5000 for a gaming beast.
