As some of you may know. over the last couple weeks i've been having issues with my video card. (Or at least I think it's the video card)

The problem started with my monitor's just going blank, straight to the black screen that they're showing while the PC is off. The odd thing is that the PC seems to still be running. (Case fans still going, video card fan is spinning, hard drive is working, MOBO lights are still on etc etc)

This wasnt really too much of an issue at first as it would only do it maybe once every few days.

Recently, it's been getting way worse. About 2 weeks ago, it was doing it over and over, as in I could not run WOW more than 3 mins without my screens blanking out on me. I went to the store, bought a few cans of compressed air and took my rig to the garage. That bitch was as clean as the day I put it together when I brought it back in, and it ran fine for about a week. NO CRASHES.

Ok so now in the past few days it's started doing it again, and tonight it did it three times in a row. I couldnt stay logged into WoW for more than 3 mins, and it would blank my screens. The real issue is now I cant even start the PC. When I press the power button, the PC boots up, but nothing comes up on the screen. )=

I'm starting to 2nd guess myself and I'm thinking it could be a MOBO failure or even a CPU failure. I really dont know, I'm going to take it to the Geek Squad in the next few days and see if they can do some testing. I dont have an extra PCIe video card laying around to see if it's the card or not, but they do. =P

Whatever the case, maybe it'll boot up and i'll be able to raid tomorrow, maybe it wont. This is what blows me away, some days it works, some days it doesnt.

I'll keep ya guys posted.

I had a problem like this a little over a year ago. The problem was that i didnt have sufficient cooling and my computer was overheating like a mofo until finally my motherboard was fried. Download a program that will let you see your core temp and video card temp while on your computer (I use rivatuner) just to see if that's the problem. If not, idk what to tell you, but the Geek Squad probably could. GL man, hope it's nothing too serious/expensive.

That's the case I use. I have both an OCed E6850 and 8800GTS and I stay cool.

Guessing is a waste of time though, have you checked your temps? If you don't have any way to monitor your computer yet, let us know what parts your using and I can recommend some free programs.

Here's a link to the case i use:

Keeps my shit cool with nearly the same setup as ferrum. I have a amd x2 5200+ and 8800gtx tho. Only problem with my case is that the psu goes in the bottom. Lucky enough my psu (620 watt corsair) had a pretty long cable so everything worked out perfectly.

I'm waiting for my RMA to go through on the eVGA website.

It was the video card that had died, so as soon as the RMA goes through... and that should happen today, then i'll mail my card in.. And i've got it set at next day air shipping back with a new one.

Expect me back and stealing all your loots in a few days. (=

I just wanted to take the time to point out (since no one else has) that the eye of a hurricane is the central area of a hurricane which is characterized as having little to no wind and cloudcover (appearing on aerial and satellite images as a hollow circle in the center of the storm system). Areas finding themselves under the eye of such a storm are typically very calm, sometimes sunny, and almost eerily tranquil. I think what you're trying to compare this case to is the eyewall of a hurricane (the thick formations of clouds surrounding the eye itself. The eyewall contains the strongest winds and heaviest rainfall in the storm).

Well, that was my turn as Bill Nye for the day. Looks like an awesome case, regardless.

You need many years of therapy.

!

I will rephrase my statement.

The inside of your case will be cooler than a dead eskimo's scrotum.

And have more air going through it than you can possibly imagine.
